According to statistics, there are 239 old folks in this house. Among them, there are 60% Malays, 30% Chinese, 25% Indians and 5% other races. What shocked me is that there are 3 christians in that house. I felt so sad when I heard that. Can't even imagine how could this be as we were told by the verse in the bible:
EXODUS 20:12
[Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.]
[Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.]
Miss Emily told us that those old peoples are all from different places with different background. Some old women even smoke, some were sick, some are able to take care of themselves but they have mental problem, less than half are real healthy. While I was listening to her speech, I looked outside the glass-made door. I saw a few old men sitting on the bench dazing at the sky. An old man was there trying to tie his belt on his own. This might be a very simple task for all of us but it seems so hard for him to do so. =(
After the speech, we were allowed to visit those senior citizens. I bumped into an old lady. She is very cute and friendly with her smile on her face all of the time. She loves to keep herself clean and tidy. She even pin up her hair to make herself looks tidy. So cute!! When she saw us, she stretched out her hand and wanted to shake hand with us. =) She is very polite and she talks very soft. I can hardly hear what she said. But guess what, she can predict, among your siblings, the ratio of girls to boys, by looking at ur eyebrow and it's accurate! I got more girls than boys among my siblings. What surprised me is that she can even tell the ratio of girls to boys of your children in the future. She said I will have more daughter than son! LOL! She is really nice! I like her sweet smile and I like her! =D
During their lunch time, I came across with an incident. An old lady came into the canteen with my friends. She held my friend's hand tightly. My friend asked her to find a seat to have her lunch but she refused to do so. I heard she said, "I don't want to eat. I'm happy enough to be with you guys." At that moment, I felt so sorry for this old lady or maybe every old folks in that house. They are so lonely and they feel so happy to have people to talk to them.
I was thinking... life is like a cycle. When we were born, we know nothing. Our parents teach us everything. Teach us how to eat by using a spoon, how to wear our clothes, how to button up our clothes, how to tie our shoes, how to clean ourselves and so on. As we grown up, our parents are getting older and they turn out to be like a big baby. They forget how to eat, how to button their clothes, how to tie their shoes, and couldn't take care of themselves just like a baby.
Don't forget we will get old one day. Imagine how would you feel if your children treat u so. Take good care of your parents while you still can. Don't regret some other day! I would never depend on my children when I get old! XD
I see, I hear and I learn!
Thanks for the day! =)
God bless you all!
